Osgood Schlatters Disease presents with pain at the front of the knee where the patellar tendon attaches to the bone (the tibia). This condition is called an apophysitis which means that the boney attachment of the tendon is pulling away from the rest of the bone. This is done very gradually and most people are not at risk of any separation of that attachment. This condition is most common in adolescence and more common in males. It is usually an overuse injury that develops from activities that require repetitive knee extension like going up stairs, hiking, jumping, lunging, running, and more. This condition can be characterized with terms such as inflammation, apophysitis, and more. It is also caused by biomechanical errors in your movement.
